AA Digital SoundRADIO CULTURE & MUSIC DISCOVERY

About AA Digital Sound

AA Digital Sound is an independent digital magazine covering Radio, Artists, Reviews and Music. Radio still does something an algorithm cannot: it plays the record you would never have chosen, at the moment a stranger decided you should hear it. It is part of VUGA Network, a group of independent digital publications published in the United States.

About AA Digital Sound

House format is the review, written after repeated listening rather than a single pass. A verdict is expected, and the reasoning is sonic: where the low end sits, how a vocal is mixed against the guitars, whether a chorus earns the arrangement around it.

What We Cover

Radio covers broadcasting as a music medium: community stations, specialist shows, internet streams and the hosts running them — how an hour is assembled, what a station's license permits, and which shows are worth setting an alarm for. Discovery maps the ways people find music a recommendation engine will not surface: specialist radio, record shops, blogs, mixes, liner notes, sampling credits and word of mouth, each route explained with places to start. Artists profiles musicians through their recordings — writing method, studio decisions, lineup changes, and the audible influences running through a catalog — for listeners who want to understand why a third album sounds unlike the first. Reviews covers new albums, EPs and reissues with a stated verdict: how a record is produced and sequenced, where the writing holds, and where an arrangement runs out of ideas. Music News reports signings, splits, tour and festival announcements, station format changes and staff moves, dated and attributed to the parties involved, while Business News covers labels, streaming payouts and the broadcasters behind the signal.

Standards

Scores are not sold, embargoed praise is not traded, and a record that fails is described as failing, with specifics.
